BIG DRAW PROJECT

Display of art work draws in families! (2014-2015)

'It’s Our Shropshire,' a display of art work created by families sharing through art what is important about our Shropshire countryside made an eye catching exhibition in upper levels of the Darwin Shopping Centre on Friday April 3rd and Saturday April 4th 2015.

'Hundreds of people of all ages have now created individual pictures using collage, paint, tape, felt tip and crayon expressing how much the local landscape means to them,' said  Sarah Bury Chair of the Shropshire branch, who explained that, 'With funding from the Big Lottery Awards 4 All, four free ‘Big Draw’ events were held around the County, at Apley Farm near Shifnal, Acton Scott, Church Stretton, The Wildlife Trust, Shrewsbury and Fordhall Farm, Market Drayton.'

The composite canvases produced as a result were admired by visitors and locals including Daniel Kawczynski, the Conservative Party Candidate for Shrewsbury & Atcham.

'We were struck with the concerns expressed by young and old about the threats to our special landscape and hope that the artistic legacy continues to help to communicate the need to protect it.’
